Tour de Wyoming 2010 Route

The Tour de Wyoming hops into Utah and Idaho and pedals alongside two major bodies of water:
Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Wyoming and Bear Lake in Utah and Idaho.

For 2010 the tour heads to southwest Wyoming, which is the only area of the state we have yet to visit.

Get ready for a mix of desert, basins and large bodies of water as we explore southwest Wyoming. We also venture breifly into Utah and Idaho.

The 2010 Tour de Wyoming begins and ends in Green River where rose-colored buttes surround the town and offer an extremely scenic setting along the banks of the Green River.

We'll gather on Saturday, July 17 for registration and a rider's meeting (which is mandatory).

Day 1 (72 miles) we head west out of Green River for a day of open space through the Green River basin. We end Day 1 in the community of Kemmerer, home of the first ever J.C. Penny's store.

Day 2 (55 miles) we head west and enter into Utah to skirt along Bear Lake and pedal through the Bear Lake Valley of Utah and Idaho.
We have a rustic overnight setting at the Garden City KOA along the bank of the lake. Indoor campers will be assigned cabins since there will be no big gymnasium. For indoor campers, it will be upto 6 people per cabin. If you prefer more privacy, feel free to reserve and pay for your own cabin at the KOA. To make personal reservations call the KOA at (435) 946-3454.

Day 3 (63 miles) heads north into Idaho and passes through Montpelier before turning east and returning to Wyoming for an overnight stay in the community of Cokeville.

Day 4 (84 miles) we head south and do a reversal of our Day 2 route through Nugget Canyon, past the Fossil Butte National Monument, before heading south. We'll visit the peaceful Bridger Valley with an overnight stay in the community of Mountain View. Motel people might consider staying in nearby Lyman as well.

Day 5 (54 miles) we continue our trek through the Bridger Valley and head south, once again crossing into Utah just before we end the day in the community of Manila.

Day 6 (48 miles) we head for the barn in Green River but not before enjoying the stunning scenery along the banks of Flaming Gorge Reservoir.

More detailed maps and profiles for each day are provided below.

The map has an elevation profile computed by the mapping program Topo 6.0. When in canyons, the program tends to "read" on the hillsides and not the road cut, for that reason some profiles may be more pronounced than in reality.

NOTE: Gain and daily elevations should be taken with a grain of salt.
The profile program often follows adjacent topography, rather than the road cut.
