RIDER MESSAGES

From Dale Marmaduke,Greenwood, IN:
Re:I need the name of road-side savor/thanks to Honeywagon Sanitation
I am trying to find the name of the tour rider who gave me assistance on July 16th, 2009.
I was in great need of medical attention, and not thinking correctly. This rider stopped, arranged for SAG pickup, and rode with the SAG to the EMT and a medical facility. The person also obtained and administered an “inhaler” to help relieve the symptoms. I am extremely grateful for this care.
For the many that stopped and were greatly concerned, I have completely recovered. The final diagnosis was a combination of altitude sickness, chest cold, dehydration, strenuous activity, and anxiety. This rolled over to hyperventilation, causing me to breath harder and faster than humanly possible for several hours. Wikipedia has some good articles on these conditions.
I also wish to thank the tour 'portable toilets’ team, Honeywagon Sanitation Pumping for the ride to the EMT station. Honeywagon Sanitation also provided the return transportation from the emergency room in Rawlins: a 182 mile round trip back Laramie. Wow…what kindness that you don’t see in lesser states!

From Tim Yager, Lawrence, KS:
Lost: A bright chartruse and black Pearl Izumi Vagabond Jacket/Vest where the sleeves unzip from the jacket. It has my name Tim Yager - Kansas Jayhawk written in the collar. It was brought down the mountain the day we camped in Centennial and another rider said he saw it in the Lost and Found box at about 4:30 PM. When I checked at 6:00 it was not there. It also had my Under Armour long sleeve black shirt rolled in to the jacket sleeve. Both are missing and both are XL.
I will be happy to pay postage if the person who has it would please notify me as I am sure it was just a mistake but am hoping by now they unpacked and realize they have someone elses gear.

Frequently Asked Questions- answers to questions asked by fellow riders - mostly about food!

Luggage Reminder: your bags WILL BE WEIGHED on the first morning. If they aren't under the weight limits (40 lbs each if you have two bags, or 50 lbs if you have one bag) you will be require to reduce the weight if you expect us to carry it.
Weigh your bag at home to ensure you can meet the weight limit. All bags must have official Tour de Wyoming luggage tags or they WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE LUGGAGE TRUCK.

Rest Stop Food - All of our rest stops will provide - free of charge - an assortment of fruit and cookies; later rest stops will have peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches.
Energy drink is Gatorade.
Water and energy drink will also be available at all rest stops.
If you typically use energy gels or energy bars, you might want to bring a few to have with you "just in case" you need to stave off a bonk.

Evening meals - Civic groups will be offering an evening meal at nearly all of our overnight locations. These meals are optional but typically are geared towards the type of food cyclists like and need. A vegetarian option will be available with each meal and the costs will range from $8 to $11.
Breakfasts - We have civic groups providing breakfasts most mornings. Typically they consist of pancakes or breakfast burritos, or something similar. These breakfasts are included in the entry fee.
Lunches - Typically you'll be into town near or around lunch time. Note that much of our route lacks towns or other establishments along the way. On long days, we have the peanutbutter and jelly sandwiches. All of our overnight towns have restaurants, although the options may be limited and you'll need patience when the establishments get bombarded with our large group. But food is available for when you get to town and before the evening meal.
